Wee Braw Bag from Sweet Cinnamon Roses
Happy New Year!
I made a very sweet little bag to hold my nail care tools from the Wee Braw Bag pattern by Sweet Cinnamon Roses. I’ve gotten into the habit of painting my nails and instead of buying a basket, I opted to sew something while on a Zoom call.
It went together very quickly. Originally when I downloaded the pattern I planned on using some Liberty fabrics that I purchased over the summer but after looking for a piece of linen, I stumbled upon these fabrics that I’ve used many times before in my stash. Many years ago someone said “all your sewing projects look the same”, which I took to be an insult but now I’m learning to lean into it. Some colors just feel comfortable to me and warm linen, rust and peach are just what I love sewing with. I’ll have to save the Liberty fabric for something else!
One thing I noticed while sewing is when you faux bind the pocket piece, the lining piece ends up a bit short. I wrote the designer a note making sure I didn’t miss anything and I didn’t, she mentioned since you sew a dividing line in the pockets, nothing falls through. Which is true! But I ended up trimming my outer pocket piece flush with the inner so it was even. In my next version, I’ll just extend the pocket lining piece longer.
I’ve been on a bucket bag kick, I love the shape of this one I saw on Instagram and I think this pattern could be made into something similar. I’m not sure what kind of fabric I’d want to use so for now, I’m just bookmarking it.
I likely will make a Devon Pouch next. I’ve had the pattern for ages and I love watching Svetlana sew them, she makes it look so easy and nice!
